Pre-Fabrication Technician

At SPEC FAB, our Pre-Fabrication Techs are an important part of our team. They’re responsible for learning basic fabrication techniques, machine operation, and safety practices. They work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to get material ready for our team to weld and fabricate into parts and components for our clients. In the process, they learn how to become a metal fabricator, welder or more advanced shop technician.

Our Pre-Fabrication Techs work closely with our Shop Manager, Engineers and Customers to keep projects moving, and they complete work that maintains the required quality standards. That means attention to detail and good communication skills are a must!

Qualifications:

• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in metal fabrication is preferred
• Ability to work hard and learn new skills and processes is required
• Previous machine operation experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to read a tape measure, count and tag parts, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow shop safety guidelines
• Ability to maintain equipment as needed
• Interest in metal fabrication and welding 
• Knowledge of quality best practices, welding and manufacturing
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with our team and clients
• High school diploma or equivalent

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate based on experience and ability, plus paid vacation and other generous benefits.
