Check Out Our Latest Forming, Welding and Metal Fabrication Projects

At SPEC FAB, every week brings new opportunities to transform metal into precision parts and components that solve our clients’ toughest fabrication supply chain challenges. From complex weldments to custom assemblies, our team applies expert fabrication, forming, and welding techniques to deliver parts that perform — on time and on spec.

This project roundup below highlights some of the projects our metal fabrication service has completed recently. Each example demonstrates how our experience, state-of-the-art tools, and commitment to quality come together to support a wide range of applications across industries.

No matter what you’re engineering, our process is built around delivering the parts you need with precision and quality. Check out a few recent projects below, and if you think SPEC FAB can help with your next fabrication project, contact us today to learn more.

Autonomous Mower Decks

The project shown above is a mower deck for a new autonomous, robotic lawn mower. After completing prototypes to prove the concept and support initial sales efforts, we are now fabricating and assembling completed decks for this customer.

This unique project includes laser cutting, forming, welding, powder coating and assembly. Our team is even incorporating client-supplied 3rd-party components, such as wiring harnesses, turnbuckles, and caps to complete the finished assembly.

During the assembly phase, our client visited our shop for a final QC check and collaborated with our team to ensure perfection. Once completed, the crated mower decks are temporarily stored before drop-shipping directly to our client’s end purchasers.

Truck Outfitting Components

This unique project is currently in production to support a client in the truck manufacturing industry. Although it looks like it is created entirely out of tubing, only the end caps are made from actual square tube stock. The interior bracing and components are laser cut sheet metal formed into various tube-like shapes.

This project uses flat sheet metal that’s laser cut and formed into square and C-channel shaped parts, along with structural tube end frames that are laser cut from square tube stock, and welded into place with the other components.

Once complete, these frames are integrated by our client into a wide range of truck bodies where they provide secure storage and support for tools and other cargo.

Push Bars for Pilates Machines

Pilates reformers are complicated workout machines! And these formed steel tubes that comprise the push bar are no exception. Although they look simple, a great deal of precision work went into fabricating them.

Built from round tube stock and CNC machined end-caps, we utilized tube bending, machining and TIG welding to fabricate these bars.

Thanks to complicated threading, including internal threads, bores and counterbores, we utilized precision CNC machining processes to create end-caps that could be inserted into each tube and welded into place. This allowed us to maintain precise tolerances on these features, which were important to the success of the project.

In fact, the entire part required very tight tolerances — to within .03” — for various dimensions including flatness, parallel, height and width. In order to ensure consistency over the entire production run, we performed a rigorous first article inspection process that resulted in the highest quality finished parts for our client.

These recent projects are just a sampling of the varied work that flows through our shop. No matter the size, complexity, or application, our team approaches every job with the same dedication to craftsmanship and precision that our customers have come to expect.
